Winterland 2026 – 2027

From 19 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, Winterland returns on a grander scale as Winterland Ascona-Locarno, a major winter project that brings together two of Ticino’s most picturesque destinations in a single experience combining ice, light, music, gastronomy and entertainment. This year’s edition introduces a new fairy tale, ‘The Melody of Light’, which will accompany the Winterland experience through the language of light and projections in both locations. In Locarno, the heart of Winterland remains Piazza Grande, which will be enhanced with new experiences for this year’s edition. These include the Casetta del Gusto, dedicated to the region’s culinary specialities, and the new Santa’s House, an immersive experience featuring lights, animatronics, elves, a VR sleigh ride, a Christmas shop and an original Santa’s Lift. Alongside these new additions, the attractions that have made Winterland Locarno such a recognisable event are returning: the ice rink, the artistic projections, the light installations, the music and concerts, the Zip Line, the Fondue Chalet, the Magic Tree, the Carousel, the Karaoke Gondola, the Bistrot de la Paix, the Chinoise igloo and the Kids’ programme. In Ascona, the major new feature of the 2026–27 edition is the transformation of the lakeside promenade into an elegant winter setting overlooking Lake Maggiore.

At the heart of the experience is the spectacular 700-metre ice rink – an immersive route that allows visitors to skate in a unique setting, surrounded by the lake, lights and the festive atmosphere. Rounding off the experience are the Lake Dome – a transparent lounge overlooking Lake Maggiore, dedicated to fine dining, events and socialising – and an artistic lighting project that highlights the historic façades and transforms Ascona into an enchanting setting. The two towns will also be linked by a Christmas train, designed to take visitors on a journey of discovery through both destinations and create a truly integrated experience between Ascona and Locarno.
